How to Make a Wiper at Home (DIY)
A small hand wiper is useful for cleaning mirrors, glass, tiles, and car windows. You can easily make one at home with simple materials.
Materials Needed
-
A plastic strip or old plastic ruler
-
Piece of rubber sheet (you can cut from an old slipper or tire tube)
-
Strong glue / Fevicol / super glue
-
Small handle (wooden stick or old toothbrush handle)
-
Cutter or scissors
Steps
-
Cut the Rubber
Cut the rubber sheet in a straight strip about the same length as your plastic strip.
Make sure the edge is smooth – this edge will work as the wiper blade. -
Attach the Rubber to Plastic
Apply glue along one side of the plastic strip.
Press the rubber strip firmly onto it and let it dry. -
Fix the Handle
Attach the handle to the back side of the plastic strip.
Glue it or tape it tightly so it doesn’t move. -
Check the Edge
The rubber should be straight for smooth wiping. Trim if needed. -
Ready to Use
Your homemade wiper is ready. Simply drag the rubber edge across glass with light pressure.
Tips
-
For better grip, wrap cloth or tape around handle.
-
Use strong rubber for clean wiping.
-
Works best on smooth surfaces like mirrors and tiles.
